Portal to Texas

Newspapers are in essence a "time capsule" of valuable information, allowing us to relive history through the eyes of the people during that time.  They are also "the first draft of history" constituting a prime resource for students, historians and others telling the stories of the shared past.

The Dennis M. O'Connor Public Library was awarded a $32,725 grant from the Tocker Foundation for the digitization of newspapers, dating as far back as 1902.  The newspapers are being scanned by the University of North Texas in Denton, and will be available online at the Portal To Texas.
