Who We Are
The Refugio County Public Library was established in 1961. The Library was a gift from Mr. & Mrs. Dennis O'Connor. The Library is a memorial to the Irish Colonists who settled the county in 1828-1834. In addition to the fully equipped building, the O'Connors' also gifted a foundation book-stock of 10,000 volumes. Some 2,000 volumes belonging to the Woman's Club Library were also donated to the new Library. The Library was later renamed the Dennis M. O'Connor Public Library on May 27, 1997, to memorialize the late Mr. Dennis O'Connor.
